Frequently Asked Questions

Here at CableRated (and constantly in Caleb's Youtube comments) we get lots of questions about our products, our philosophy, and a range of other things. Here are some of the questions we get asked often

Wait just one minute! Are these just whitelabeled generic cables?

No. While we are working alongside an overseas engineering firm to help us build our cables, we have been super picky with strong opinions about their specs, build quality, and many other micro-decisions that go into making a product. We would never just fish an off-the-shelf open tool product, slap our logo on it, and call it a day.

Okay, so what makes your cables special?

Our HDMI cables are extremely well built, with 28 AWG connectors, a constant 48GBPS throughput, and solid shielding from outside interference. We're also super picky about materials and feel, and our jacket and cord are all soft to the touch and pleasant to handle. Nothing scritchy-scratchy on our products.

The production run of every product we make is independly tested, and we make engineering decisions based on measured performance instead of marketing claims.

Our current and all subsequent products will stay laser-focused on this philosophy.

Where are your cables made?

They're made in Shenzen China, shipped to us directly, and we prepare and ship all of our shipments out. We wish we could make them closer and still keep our prices the way they are, but that's just not the reality of global business.

I live in a place other than the USA, what about me??

We are working very hard to figure out solutions for getting our cables to you. But what we don't want to do is to charge you $30 to ship a $30 cable. That doesn't feel right to us. When we figure it out, and we WILL figure it out, we'll let you all know.

Where can I see independent reviews of your products?

As product reviewers ourselves, we'd be super irresponsible if we didn't send our our products to other reviewers. Don't fret, they're already in the hands of people putting them through the paces, so stay tuned.

Where's your HDMI Certification?

This was a tough one for us! We know that people expect certification on lots of products, but with the manufacturing market so mature, the cables so well built, and everything such a known quantity, we chose to keep our costs down and our prices where they are. If *anything* ever fails with your cables under normal use, we'll replace them for free. We promise.

I can get cables at Amazon or Monoprice for way less, why should I buy these?

It's true, you can. We aren't trying to compete with these products at all. We want to create cable products that withstand a lot of wear and tear, moving around, bending and twisting, and every other thing that can happen in a lively environment. Caleb also has needs for reference cables that work with everything, have the best possible data throughput, and can withstand plugging in and out of countless devices and displays. So those are the cables we make, we guarantee them, and we think they're very well priced.

What about USB cables? DisplayPort? Adapters?

Stay tuned. ✨
